Back to the Grind

Work started back up after the New Year with a short week. Wednesday to Friday consisted of reading some literature, trying to decide whether I want to present at a conference in Denver this June, and getting prepared for some experiments the following week. I probably eased into the New Year a little too slowly. The lab was still pretty empty with many people still on break.

This past weekend we had nice weather. The temperature got into the low 50s and there was minimal rain on Saturday and none on Sunday. Saturday night we had Jim and Krista over for Mexican food. It was delicious and pretty close to home cooked Mexican. We took a nice drive after church on Sunday and went to the British Market in Everberg. Unfortunately they were out of Dr. Pepper 2-liters so we didn't buy anything. We drove on to another shopping district where we went to a Baby-2000 store and looked at way overpriced baby merchandise. It got us anxious for the new baby to arrive. After arriving home we took a walk around our neighborhood before the sun went down and then rested the evening away and listened to some NFL playoff games.

The early part of this week I have been working on another experiment with the locusts, this time on the brain region. Previous work we were doing was on the ganglia in the abdomen of the insect. Preliminary results from our brain experiment were promising, but a repeat showed a slight problem in the protocol which we will need to fix. We will try again tomorrow.

I will try to get some pictures posted again soon, but I figured my readers were due an update. Oh yes, and Mindy is still holding strong. Her doctor thinks it could be any day, but likely not till the end of the month or beginning of next. Thanks to everyone's prayers her back is still doing well and has not "gone out" on her at all during the pregnancy.
