The Spit

This past weekend, we went to do a bit of shopping. First stop was the Spit, our local second hand store, to try and find a “changing table” for the baby. We found a good 3 drawer dresser that will work nicely for only 7Euro.

A picture of the spit. This isn’t even half of it. It is a huge place with anything you might want to find. It is much like a Salvation Army, but is not affiliated with any kind of organization. You can drop things off, or just schedule a free pick up of any items you want to donate. I am sure we will be using this when we get ready to leave in May/June. Whatever items we have left over will be donated to the Spit. Most of the things in our house came from there to begin with so we will pass the love on to someone else!

Mia always likes to look at the toy and book section. Here she is reading a book that she picked out for only 50 cents. It is in French, but the pictures are good so we just make up a story to go with the pictures.

After we dropped the dresser off at home, we went to Ikea. Belgium only has 2 times a year where the stores have big sales. This is not Kohl’s. EVERYTHING is ALWAYS on sale at Kohl’s which we make fun of because that means that nothing is really ever on sale. However, In July and January, the Belgians enjoy their sale time. Ikea was NUTS. Getting into the store was not so bad. We didn’t really even need anything, but just wanted to kill some time, eat lunch at the cafeteria, and hang out. The way out was a completely different story. It took us 45 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. People were honking and getting all ticked off at each other, but we just laughed at the mayhem. We decided they are starved for sales and opening hours. As stores close early and are not open much of the weekend, they all have to cram in there at the same time. Doesn’t make sense to us, so we just had a good laugh. Mia however, got bored and fell asleep.
