Tabor College, we meet again!

Yesterday, I took the day off of work and we took a train into Brussels. A group of 37 Tabor college students with one faculty member were on their annual European tour. We met them at the train station and then followed them around Brussels for the day, seeing some new sights, and talking with many of the students. Mindy made some cookies for them upon their arrival to welcome them to the country. We hope that our house will be a place where students know they can always come just to get a cookie if need be. It was a really fun day and Mia loved hanging out with all of the students even though she was really shy most of the time. She even got to play a bit of ping-pong with one of the girls at the youth hostel.

Below is a picture of the students gathering around “Doc Kyle” outside of the youth hostel to get some basic directions on how to get back after they are done playing in the city that night. This is his 23rd trip with Tabor College students and the amount of work and dedication that goes into planning each one is amazing. Each trip is a bit different, and we were very glad they stopped by our neighborhood this year!

On the way to downtown Brussels we passed by the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Next stop was St. Michaels’ Church, my camera didn't do very well here, but I'm sure some of the students got better shots as they had more sophisticated cameras.

Unfortunately for the students, Belgium produced its typical weather and it began raining right after we went into the church. The rest of the walk was a bit damp, but we all still had fun and afterwards we enjoyed dinner with Doc Kyle. We had a nice Belgian feast with a cute little cat to keep us company. We were all pet friendly, but it still seemed odd to have a cat roaming around our feet while we were eating dinner . . . at a restaurant. Surely this is a health code violation of some sort?
